The story dwells on mismatched partners and the travails of students going abroad for studies. Unfolding this sensitive plot are the very talented cast of Milind Soman (Rohit), Swati (Priya) and Hena (Nisha) with able support from Nirmal Pandey, Naveen Beri, Saeed Jaffrey, Prem Chopra, Satish Shah, Smita Jaykar, Rajive Verma, Bina and British actors Nicolas and Anita.
Rohit and Priya are from the same village and are engaged. But destiny had other plans for Priya. She gets a scholarship to study abroad for which she leaves for UK. Her very dejected fiance Rohit being overly possessive and of suspicious nature, follows her to London. On reaching there he discovers a completely changed Priya - cold and elusive. Priya reasons that a girl has a right to achieve and marriage comes in the way of a women's independence. A shattered Rohit tries to win her back as the film enters an emotional phase. However, soon a new girl enters Rohit's life - Nisha. Nisha is from a rich broken home. She is looking for a man like Rohit to stand by her. A girl who always valued bondage and believed that possessiveness was beautiful and an indication of true love. She craves for a man like Rohit. Will Rohit ultimately reciprocate Nisha's feelings? Will Priya get back with Rohit? Or will all three of them find happiness elsewhere?
The film takes you through a journey that is as ecstatic and as anguishing as real life could be. It is packed with happenings to keep the audience glued to their seats - a blend of romance, emotion, action and comedy.
'Pyar ki Dhun' has been extensively shot in UK, Ranikhet and Mumbai. The first schedule of 45 days with a crew of 60 was shot in UK in below freezing temperatures. The filming covered some exclusive locales of central London.
