RATING: 0.25/10
Bandra West Production's Bas Yun Hi is designed as a light comedy and looks like a completely amateur attempt. It is the story of three guys and their three girlfriends. The six of them keep playing pranks and cracking jokes on one another and, other than these pranks and jokes, there's no real story in the film. One such prank gets stretched a bit too long till finally, those playing it, fear the worst. But, of course, their fears are unfounded as nothing of what they imagine comes true.
The storyline is not even wafer-thin. The jokes and pranks that comprise the drama are feeble and barely evoke laughter. The weakest prank is the one which lasts for the longest time in the film. Therefore, the going-on, which are supposed to be funny, are actually quite silly and irritating. Dialogues, which should've been extremely witty, are commonplace except for a few places where they are good.
Nandita Das is just about fair. She gets very little scope. Purab Kohli and Rajiv Gopalakrishnan are average. Sameer Malhotra, Sandhya Shetty, Tanishtha Chatterjee and Parmita Katkar lend very ordinary support.
Debutant director Raja Menon has not been able to do justice to the film, bogged down as he is by an insipid script. His handling of the subject is amateurish. Songs are of the kind that would appeal to the niche audience only. Song picturisations are ordinary. Photography and other technical aspects are average.
On the whole, Bas Yun Hi is a non-starter, having neither class nor mass appeal. Its short running time will be another disadvantage.
