Had lot of expectations from this movie considering the hard work put by the entire team especially Anupam Kher. But sadly the movie has not been so exciting as I would have expected. The first half of the movie is very boring it is only in the 2nd half the pace begins but by then things are too predictable. But must say the movie belongs to Waheeda Rahman, she is the best.
OJJ is a story of three brothers. Om (Anil Kapoor) is a brilliant man who works for a leading music company. He is married to Ayesha (Mahima), a VJ with MTV. He has done his best to brought up their younger brothers in the best possible manner. Also, he has a great sense of spotting new talents and introduced some talented artists lifting them directly from their scratchy fields. His younger brother Jai (Fardeen) has fascination for cars and his ambition is to make a car that would rock the world one day. Om takes loans from his company for Jai’s higher education and the latter goes abroad. Jai is in love with a rich girl (Urmilla) whose parents are NRI.
The youngest one Jagdish (Abhishek) is a computer savvy college student who is an expert in hacking. Jagdish wants to make it big in the IT sector and he is mastering. And for this, he is trying his hands at hacking sites! He is in love with his college mate Pooja (Tara). The story then takes some unexpected turns when Jai comes back India and informs that he has refused a cool job offer from a leading auto company. He did so because he knew that Om would never buy an idea of breaking a family into pieces just for the sake of a good career opportunity. Jai wanted to remain faithful to his brother and his wish of living together forever, so he unwillingly refuses the job and comes to India.
On the other hand, Jagdish has now made up his mind about his future and he wants to do a pricey computer course. Once this course is done, Jagdish feels that his career will touch new heights. But already burdened with heavy loans that are yet to be paid, Om says no for the course. Shocked and saddened Jagdish charge with prejudice. This was not the end to the family’s troubles, though. Jai now declares that he has resolved to go to the USA. And before Om could digest all these shudders, Jagdish is found guilty of hacking college computer and robbing it of exam papers. What happens hereafter forms the crux of the story.
The problem with this film is that the story is too old and has little scope to make it interesting. Also the story is not well narrated. The only actors who leave an impression are Anil, Waheeda and Abhishek. Yeah! Abhishek is looking good in this film and has given a much better performance as compared to his other flicks.
Songs are boring while background music at times is inspired from Hollywood flicks but does not suit a desi film.
Waheeda has given first-rate performance. Anupam’s direction is good.
Tara has a sweet smile but that’s it - she hardly makes an impact in the short role she has. Urmilla fails to look like a NRI - she has her typical accent here too. Her fans may not appreciate her role with negative shade.
You feel pity looking at Mahima who wears skimpy dress on road to shoot for MTV. Wow! When did the VJs started showing so much?
Fardeen looks good and fits the bill well here.
Anu Kapoor does not fit the bill of a loud remix singer.
And why the heck does anyone send mineral water and juice from America in courier like they have showed in this film!!
On the whole very average film.
