While you just had a movie two weeks back called Badhai Ho Badhai with a story on the clash of two families and how they get back, now here is yet another flick with the feud angle story again. Luckily this movie comes as a winner for reasons like good actors, tight script and good narration.

A remake of a massive Telegu hit - this movie begins with shades of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and family oriented movies like K3G. Looking at the promos of this movie, this movie looked like a typical family film with yet another soap opera edge. But the movie is entertaining unlike and does not boar you though the 2nd half is clichéd where the pace becomes slow.

The movie clearly belongs to Fardeen who has improved so much in this movie. He has finally arrived!

The film was scheduled to start in May 2002 but the unfortunate incident of Fardeen being arrested sent the entire schedule in trouble. Over 40 odd artistes were required in the first schedule of 25 days and all dates had to be readjusted. Dr. Rama Naidu, the producer never flinched or panicked during these trying times for Fardeen and stood by him.

Once the authorities cleared Fardeen, production started rolling in June 2002 in Hyderabad at Ramanaidu studios. According to Fardeen, this schedule was most gratifying for him as an actor. He had to make kids laugh at his jokes. He had to tease his heroine and romance her, he had scenes where he would make his large family cry, and he also had to fight Sharad Kapoor. A complete range of emotions in the midst of an environment he had never experienced.

The Story:

Abhay (Fardeen Khan) stays with his widowed mother and younger sister in Mumbai. Theirs is a small and content family, unknown to the different relationships and bond that abound a typical Indian family.

When they receive a telegram from his grandfather, inviting them to their place fort the first time, Abhay’s joy knows no bounds. With many expectations, they reach the grandfather’s home. But Abhay feels dejected by the indifferent attitude of his Dadaji (Vikram Gokhale).

Abahay’s father ran from the village during his marriage time and that’s how the clash between the families of Vishnupratap Singh and Virendrapratap Singh (Govind Namdeo). After that incident both the families though stay opposite to each other never speak.

Even Virendrapratap’s wife (Neena Kulkarni) is caught between affection for her brother Vishnupratap and responsibility bound towards her husband.

Rudra who has seen his sister and father die during the clash cannot stand Vishnupratap’s family especially Abhay.

Very amiable and lovable as he is, Abhay soon wins the heart of the family members in Dadaji’s house. The affection of his Dadi Ma, aunts and uncles moves him and he treasures all the fine movements.

In a very youthful and playful manner, Abhay falls in love with Mangla (Richal Pallod). Mnagla is shown as the endearing daughter to her parents, as the loving ‘poti’ of her Dadaji. But, even before his love story turns fruitful, some hard truths from the past surface.

Abhay decides to heal the wounds suffered in the past. But he is lease aware that his noble intentions will upset his very own dream world. Abhay attempts to bring the two families back together - he succeeds too but there is a glitch. The two broken families try to revive there past by getting Mangla married to Virendrapratap’s America returned grandson.

Will Abhay realize his love? Will his efforts to win his Dadaji’s heart turn fruitful? Will his endeavor to cleanse the past be successful? Is the happiness of your family more than your own? -- This forms the rest of the story.
