Bollywood is facing the pits - it is no longer rosy for filmmakers. Top actors fail to make good movies. We just saw a terrible movie of Big B two weeks back now we have another big production movie with Anil in the lead which once again fails to impress.
Frankly speaking I was quite excited about this movie - the promotion was just brilliant. Or was I mislead with those sunflowers painted everywhere and even the local train I took while coming to the theatre was entirely painted with this film banner.
My worst fear was over when I easily managed to secure tickets for the first-day-first show in not one but two theatres! Still there were more than 8 rows which remained empty.
Ok. Let’s cut the crap and get to the point, my money was surely wasted but I will certainly do a good deed by warning you guys from this flick. The basic problem with this movie is that it does not have a decent story instead what you are thrown is 2 and half hours of more or less music channel on the big screen. With a bad story and equally worse screenplay they only were showing songs all the time! I would certainly not call this a family entertainer after you have seen Shilpa Shetty’s costumes - she looks like a bar girl dancing around in Kamasutra inspired song videos. You feel sorry that such talented actress like Shilpa who gave a superb performance in Dhadkan would have to work on such cheap plots. To add more sorrows you have a terrific actor like Anil failing to impress a bit.
Badhaai Ho Badhaai is the story of the Chaddha family (Amrish Puri, Farida Jalal) and the D`Souza family (K. Vishwanath, Rohini Hattangady) who love to hate each other and who cannot see eye to eye.
After a period of 25 years, both the families receive letters from Raja (Anil Kapoor)), saying he is their grandchild and is coming to live with them. On arrival, only rejection is in store for Raja, who then finds a shelter with Ghooman Singh (Kader Khan), a raucous singer. Never to accept defeat easily, Raja wins over the love of the grand parents, who are constantly pressurising him to marry. To save himself from the tangles of marriage, he lies to them saying that he is already married to a girl called Banto Betty (Shilpa Shetty).
Banto Betty is sensuous and alluring, funny and full of vigour. On the other hand is a dreamy, vulnerable and lost-in-her-own-world Florence (Kirti Reddy).Raja, who has avowed to unite both the families after years of feud, is shocked when he sees Banto Betty posing as his wife, whereas he is actually in love with someone else.Who is Banto Betty? Who is Raja`s real love? Do both the families unite? Is Raja the healing touch that we need in life today? Badhaai Ho Badhaai is a remake of a super-successful Telugu film.
Shilpa Shetty, a South Indian in real life, has enacted the role of a Punjabi for the first time in her career. Amisha Patel was supposed to do the role that Kirti Reddy is doing in the film. Like everyone thought that fatso Raja was inspired from Nutty Professor, but it is actually inspired by Roberto Bengini in the film Life Is Beautiful.
Must give credit to the make-up of Amrish Puri and Kader Khan, the look given to them looks cool.
Kirti Reddy has little to do this in movie - she is a dumb chick who screams like a nut and has to wear sexy outfits showing her belly - that’s her job!
People will like the first half of the film, as you will be laughing to couple of good dialogues but in the 2nd half they have messed the movie. Anil Kapoor is not keeping well for the past few days, we wonder if he became ill after watching the trial oh his own film. As anyone can make out that the film will fail to impress.
