Starring : Rakesh, Sandali, Himanshu, and Priyanshu
Producer : Bhushan Kumar, Krishnan Kumar
Director : Anubhav Sinha
Music : Nikhil-Vinay, Ravi Pawar
Rating : 7/10 (Above Average)

Story : It seems being a newcomer is a good thing these days. Tusshar had good luck with his first film, Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai. Anubhav Sinha’s first direction Tum Bin consists on four newcomers. Rakesh Bapat, Himanshu Malik, Priyanshu Chatterjee, and Sandali Sinha. Anubhav, who has been known for making some good music videos.

The story starts of with Amar (Rakesh) living in his dreamworld and Pia (Sandali) living in her dream world, everything is perfect and they are to get married in a week. Shekhar (Priyanshu) is a business wiz and is in Mumbai for some urgent business. Amar is also in a hurry as his taxi breaks down and Shekhar runs into him with his car and kills Amar, this was due to Shekhar swerving so that he wouldn’t hit a child that was on the street. During the incident Amar was on the phone with Sandali. Since Skekhar was accountable for his death, he goes to Canada and try to console Amar’s family and admit his fault. When he arrives that Amar’s father was in a coma because of his son’s death. Since the father wasn’t able to take care of his business, it fell upon Piya, who herself was in a terrible state. Skekhar, being the business wiz he is helps Piya get the business back on track. He also took over the role of grandson, and brother, winning the whole family over.

The twist in the story comes when Abhigyan (Himanshu) sees Pia and instantly falls for her. He himself is a sophisticated and charming businessman. By this time Pia has fallen in love with Shekhar, and vice versa; except Shekhar is unable to tell Pia that. He has also find out that Abhigyan is love with Pia as well and decides to play cupid. Abhigyan has also realized that Shekhar is in love with Pia. The rest of the story shows who gets the girl.

As newcomers, none of them did a bad job. The problem is they have followed a string of actors who have made a name for themselves in acting, such as Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Tusshar. The best performace was definitely given by Sandali Sinha, who portrays a girl with many problems very well. Rakesh Bapat also does well is his short stint. Himanshu is O.K. as he has overacted in many scenes and was unable to portray his character as well as it demanded. Priyanshu Chatterje has given the best performance among the three, as he also has the longest time on screen.

Anubhav Sinha has done a commendable job in his debut direction, certainly better than many directors have in theirs. Many of the scenes are great, while others just don’t flow with the story. Many critics have said that this film has a strong resemblance to Dushman, but it isn’t so. The film isn’t also really the story of three guys who fall in love with one girl, since Amar dies in the beginning and him and Pia were already in love. The cinematography and picturizaiton might actually be the best of any movie to date, especially in a time period where a movie demands this. The scenes and backgrounds of many songs are lavish and incredible. The music is also very good. It has the slow tracks, ‘Dekhte Hi Dekhte’ and ‘Pyar Humko Hone Laga’. It also has the upbeat song ‘Daroo Vich Pyar’, an excellent song. ‘Koi Fariyaad’ presents a different tune than the usual. Still, the best song is ‘Chhoti Chotti Ratein’, which is another romantic song and is well composed. This film should do well, it should even beat out Aks in the box office in many areas, which also released on the same day.
